1979.9-1982.6 河南科技大学畜牧专业学习;
1994.9-1997.6 华中农业大学畜牧兽医学院动物遗传育种与繁殖专业攻读硕士学位;
2000.9-2003.6 华中农业大学动物科技学院动物遗传育种与繁殖专业攻读博士学位;

教学工作:
主讲动物科学专业《普通遗传学》,《家畜育种学》、《猪的遗传改良》和研究生的《细胞遗传学》、《动物遗传原理与育种方法》。教学工作中态度认真、概念清楚、内容丰富新颖,教学方法科学合理,深受学生欢迎,教学效果好,于1998年获华中农业大学教学质量一等奖。主持《家畜育种学》优质课程建设、精品课程建设,主持《普通遗传学》电子课件等多项教学研究项目。获得高等农林院校遗传学课程体系和教学内容的改革获教学成果二等奖,优秀研究生指导奖,多次获得优秀大学生论文和科技创新论文指导奖。积极参与教材建设,主编全国高等农林院校“十一五”规划教材《家畜育种学》,参编面向二十一世纪教材《普通遗传学》和国家“十五”规划教材《普通遗传学》8万字,参编“十一五”国家规划教材《动物遗传学》2万字,参编农业推广(养殖领域)硕士专业学位教材《动物遗传原理与育种方法》3万字。
科研工作:
主持国家自然科学基金8项(其中1项重点国际合作研究项目)、863、948、国家科技支撑计划、转基因检测国家标准研制等科研项目30多项。在对地方品种种质特性的研究以及地方品种的保护与利用方面开展大量研究并建立了相关的研究方法,目前正在对通城猪的优良肉质和抗蓝耳病的分子遗传基础开展研究,并利用这些优质特性开展新品种培育工作;同时开展转基因动物的安全评价研究,已建立了相关的技术平台。先后在《Cell Rerearch》、《Animal Genetics》、《Molecular Biology Reports》、《Int J Biol Sci》、《Plos One》、《Dev Comp Immunol.》、《中国农业科学》、《遗传学报》等国内外刊物上发表研究论文170余篇,其中80多篇被SCI收录,通讯作者发表SCI收录论文50篇。作为第一发明人获得授权发明专利18项。获国家技术发明二等奖(第2完成人)、湖北省技术发明二等奖(第1完成人)、湖北省自然科学二等奖(第3完成人)、教育部自然科学二等奖(第3完成人)和湖北省科技进步三等奖(第1完成人)各1项。已培养博士14人、硕士35人。
