【教学工作】
    先后承担本科生《动物数量遗传学》、《动物遗传学》、《家畜育种学》、《生物进化论与现代人类社会》等课程的教学任务。教学效果优良,参编《家畜育种学》、副主编《动物分子生物学》等国家级规划教材。


【科研工作】
    主持国家自然科学基金2项、湖北省科技攻关项目1项,承担“863”项目子课题等4项、参与省部级科研项目10余项。研究领域集中在统计遗传、免疫基因组学、系统生物学等,主要研究工作包括数量遗传分析方法、猪抗病的分子机理、基因网络的结构与功能等。先后发表论文100余篇,其中,以第一作者或通讯作者在《International Reviews of Immunology》、《International Journal of Biological Sciences》、《Asian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences》、《Journal of Animal and veterinary Advances》、《Journal of Animal Science Biotechnology》、《畜牧兽医学报》、《遗传》、《中国畜牧杂志》等国内外杂志上发表文章30余篇。提出的数字候选基因法受英国曼彻斯特大学Michelle Webb博士邀请,入编其专著《Cancer Susceptibility: Methods and Protocols》(Humana Press USA 出版的Methods in Molecular Biology series丛书之一)的第6章Digital candidate gene approach (DigiCGA) for identification of cancer genes。
